Charlotte Peoples Hodges is licensed to practice law in Virginia and Maryland. She graduated from the University of Maryland School of Law in Baltimore in 1995 and Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. in 1992 with a BA in Psychology.
She has 20 years of experience practicing law. After graduating law school, she clerked for Judge Mabel Houze Hubbard in the Baltimore City Circuit Court. She moved to Richmond and began her legal career with the law firm of McEachin & Gee. She later went to work for the Virginia State Bar, where she initially prosecuted matters as an Assistant Bar Counsel. After leaving the Virginia State Bar, Ms. Hodges served as Chairperson, and as a Committee member on a District Committee which heard and ruled on ethics matters involving attorneys who were brought before the District Committee.
Ms. Hodges served as a Special Assistant United States Attorney with the United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Virginia in the Richmond office preparing and prosecuting Federal Exile cases. Prior to her time in the United States Attorney’s Office, she served as a Senior Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney supervising a team of attorneys who prosecuted criminal cases in the City of Richmond.
Ms. Hodges practiced as a solo practitioner for 10 years before rejoining the Gee Law Firm. As a solo practitioner, a portion of her practice included representing attorneys before the Virginia State Bar Disciplinary Board, District Committees and Three Judge Panels. She also represented new bar admittees before the Character & Fitness Committee of the Virginia Board of Bar Examiners.
A large part of Ms. Hodges other practice areas as a solo practitioner included criminal defense work in federal and state court, personal injury, business law and document review. She has handled cases at every level in state and federal court, including the Virginia Supreme Court and the United States Court of Appeals for the Eastern District of Virginia. She is admitted to practice in the Virginia Federal and State Courts, including the 4th Circuit Court of Appeals and the Supreme Court of Virginia. Ms. Hodges is a litigator who has had a significant number of jury trials in her career.
Since 2000, she has prepared and taught Ethics and Professional Responsibility CLE’s to attorneys throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia. Including the Old Dominion Bar, the Henrico County Bar, the Richmond Criminal Defense Bar, the Northern Virginia Bar, the Attorney Generals Office, the United States Attorneys Office for the Eastern District of Virginia, the Richmond Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office, and on behalf of ANLIR and ALPS.
