What does personal injury protection cover?
Virginia doesn’t have PIP which is known as Personal Injury Protection. Virginia has something called Medical Payment Coverage which we call MedPay for short. They are similar but the PIP is usually associated with the state that has no-fault insurance. Medical Payment Coverage is used to pay your medical bills. If you go to your doctor, you get a bill, you send it to your insurance carrier, your insurance carrier will send you or your doctor a check.
If you’re a client of ours, we will work your liability part, meaning trying to get you a settlement or trying your case in court. We’ll also work other aspects of it, one of which is the Medical Payment Coverage. We will file the claim with your carrier and they will send a check to us on your behalf. If we need to pay your medical bills, we will do that. If there are no medical bills to be paid, we will give the check to you.
